Save the Rail Campaign

The Scotia Rail Development Society is asking your support to keep the rail in Cape Breton. Genesee and Wyoming (G&W), current owner of the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway, has applied for permission from the Government of Nova Scotia's Utility and Review Board, to abandon the rail line and to sell the iron tracks for scrap.  The province has been subsidizing the upkeep of this rail line at a cost of $3-million per year, but if granted permission, G&W will be able to sell the rail scrap for an estimated $25 million.   The Towns of New Glasgow is encouraging other municipalities to voice their support for Scotia Rail - their brochure and petition

Campaign Schools—Date and Location Changes

There have been some changes to the dates and locations of the remaining two Campaign Schools. The new date for the Port Hawkesbury session is May 7th, and the Bridgewater location has been changed to the NSCC to accommodate the level of interest.
